Learning to code

I have always been lacking good coding skills, not that i don’t know basic HTML/CSS. I just had no time to learn the advanced stuff and the techniques i needed for more complicated projects. Briefly i am one of those designers that don’t code.

And because over the years my level as a designer went higher, i recieved more projects with high complexity and even though i have learned a lot of new front-end techniques, my coding skills always had to catch up with my designing skills.

That’s why i never accepted front-end work over the years, even though i had lose half of the project price, i wanted to be honest with my clients and i didn’t wanted to learn on their projects, while they pay for professional work.

To solve my problem i went over a lot of tutorials but most of them required a lot of time, which meant i had to put down client offers for the sake of learning to code. But then i found this site called Codecademy.

It’s a different way of learning things, instead of watching a video tutorial, where you practice after you watch, in Codecademy the whole learning process is practicing instantly in the tutorial. It’s time saving and easier than rewatching a video, when you don’t understand something. I started the Code Year track and couple of other tutorial services, so in one year with a lot of work, i expect to have solid skills in front-end developement. Wish me luck.
